I started this as a sculpting project. I was planning to vertex paint on the model but I've found out it is not possible on a multires mesh. To be precise; you can vertex paint on the mesh with a multires modifier, but it is applied on the base mesh (object data) level and you not the subdivided multires mesh. Then I have switched to mid-poly mesh (~240k faces) and baked normals from the multires.


I created 9 hair objects but the ones on the back share data blocks so it's 5 unique hair objects. Even though the base curves data block is the same you can get a lot of variation using the new geometry nodes based modifiers.
