About Me
My name is Atamert. I am a Python programmer. I live in Singapore and I am currently working for SigFig.
I was born in İzmir, Türkiye. I studied Shit Engineering in the University. Despite my best efforts, I couldn’t find a way to avoid dealing with it.
I chose to be a programmer because it seemed to me that you don’t have to deal with people in this profession. It turned out to be wrong, but I am glad to have made this mistake. I love programming, it is as close as you can get to be a wizard.
I wouldn’t spend all those hours teaching myself if I hadn’t watched Emre Sevinç talk about LISP and other cool stuff on TV. Rest of my initial inspiration came from Paul Graham‘s essays. You need inspiration if you want to be good at this.
I did some odd jobs like fitness coaching and 3D Studio tutoring. My first real job was consulting for Ucuzu.com. I got the chance to work with an incredible team and learn a lot. It had nothing to do with programming. But I learned a lot about business development, strategic planning and marketing.
I moved to Singapore in October, 2010 to start working for another web startup. So far, I am enjoying living here.
I love bodybuilding. I have been lifting weights for more than 10 years. I intend to continue training as long as I can pee unassisted. I practised Shotokan Karate, Judo and Tai Chi Chuan. I love martial arts, even though it is now certified that I am no good at any one of them.
I like to read all kinds of books, but I usually read sci-fi. If you know who Miles Teg or Zev Bellringer is we will probably get along very well.
You can contact me using the contact form or via muhuk<you-know-what>muhuk.com. I tweet and I plurk. I don’t log in to IRC often, but when I do I am muhuk on irc.freenode.net.
Finally, the views and opinions expressed in this blog are mine alone and not those of my employer.
